Santha Jayalath holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Special) Degree from the University of Performing Arts and has held four solo exhibitions and 14 others to date collectively with several well-known artists. Jayalath is a recipient of many awards including the Best Artist Award at the Annual National Arts and Sculpture Festival held in 1996.
Jayalath says life's intense and complex experiences and challenges manage to enrich the inner core of man, irrespective of the fact whether he lives within a society or in solitude. An artist entwines this spiritual sensitivity with the essence of his soul to enhance the creative process. Jayalath has attempted to recreate his soul by capturing the colours and shapes of his surroundings and combining them with the spiritual reality of the cosmos. "These creations are the reflections of my soul," says Jayalath.
